Working my way to a new me!

Hello! I have been married for 18 years and have two teenage daughters. We also have a mini dachshund that turned 2 in May. I started a weight loss plan in April 2007 and have lost 48 pounds. I reached my goal weight (of 130) on December 17th and now have lowered my goal to 128 so that it's an even 50 lbs to lose. I have so much more energy and though I still HATE to exercise, I'm more willing to do it.

UPDATE: I struggled with some medical issues in January '08 which stress and hormones caused me to gain 9 lbs. So after a long couple of months, I finally reached my original goal weight of 130 again on April 7th. I still am trying to reach 128 but I am just happy to reach 130 again. I joined a gym in Feb 08 and it seems to have been the best thing I've ever done.

5/26/08 I ran in my first 5K race. My blog talks of the race in detail but bottom line is I finished in 38:51. Not the best time, but I'm just happy that I finished.

For anyone interested I have two different blog sites...one is for my weight loss journey and the other is about my family and raising teenage girls. Accomplishments:

In all, I've lost 48 lbs.
I've lost 5 3/4 inches from my hips
I've lost 7 inches from my waist (wow)
I've lost 2 3/4 inches from my chest (sad...I know)
I've lost 2 3/4 inches from my right thigh
I've lost 2 3/4 inches from my left thigh
I've lost 1 1/4 inches from my neck

I've also dropped from a size 16 to a size 6.

Here is the amount of weight I've lost in terms of food with the following formula: 1 lb = 4 squares of butter, 5 lbs = 1 sack of potatoes, 10 lbs = 8 medium cantalopes, 25 lbs = 3 gallons of milk.

I have lost:

3 gallons of milk
16 medium cantalopes
12 squares of butter

When you think of it that way, doesn't it sound amazing??

6-4-07 lost 10% of weight
7-1-07 wore size 12 pants for first time in over 5 yrs.
7-10-07 fit into and purchased size 10 shorts & medium shirts...woo hoo
7-23-07 Met **Married Life** July challenge of losing 5 lbs in July ~~Lost 6 lbs
8-5-07 met goal of reaching 145 by vacation.
8-27-07 met goal to Lower BMI by 1 pt for **Married Life** challenge (BMI was 24.6; now 23.5)
8/27/07~I lost 15 lbs for the Labor Day Weight Watcher Friends Challenge (BW 156 GW141)
10/8/07~met goal to lose 10 lbs by 10/20 in WWAH challenge (BW146 GW 136)
12-17-07 MET GOAL of 130 woohoo!!
05/26/08 Ran in my first 5K for a time of 38:51
6/27/08- wear size 6 in bottoms WOOHOO!

My Program:
I'm currently following the WW flex plan. I also try to exercise at the gym 5-6x a week. So far it's working out great! Now I just need to keep with it.

Thanks for checking in on me - my Spark notifications of comments on my page, SparkMail and even daily emails has been all messed up so I just now saw your message. I actually dropped off the WWAH team as I felt like I could not face failing the different team goals and challenges - all in my head, I know...I'm also struggling between points and core...you have done so well, made such great progress! What keeps you committed and motivated day after day?

well if dealing with my mom hasn't been enough...

my daughter got into a bad wreck swerving to avoid a dear and had to be taken to the trauma unit for emergency surgery to remove her spleen. She is doing great but I just got home from being at her bedside for 6 days. We are just SOOOO happy to be back in our own beds.

I have kept the weight off through it all so I am accomplishing the emotional eating issues WELL.

re your comment, I usually weigh daily right after waking up and relieving myself. Thats when I saw the 199 number. Then I surfed, drank some water and said, "Oh, I should take a pic of the scale." I was a "WEE" bit too late! LMAO
